It remains to be seen whether the Squires will see a closer finish than at Tralee in 2015. It was the first October event for the Squires and the gamble paid off with superb weather for the annual event, this time in County Kerry. After losing a close battle to Squire at Ballybunion Cashen, Cathal produced a strong second round at Ballybunion Old the following day to build a 4 shot lead going into the last day. Squire erased the 4 shot lead after only 2 holes at Tralee and a tit-for-tat battle ensued. In the end it came down 18 with an audience and Cathal holing a very high-stakes 12 footer on the 18th for the win.
